Project Director - Municipal Services & Enterprise Development

Cowater is seeking candidates for the position of Project Director, to be based in our Ottawa headquarters, who will provide technical direction and leadership for complex multi-disciplinary capacity building projects.  Your relevant academic background and at least 10 years international development project management success are coupled with extensive knowledge of donor policies and programs, superior writing skills, and a willingness to travel as needed.

As Project Director you will be responsible for:

  • overall management of the assigned projects toward the achievement of intended results;
  • reporting directly to CIDA and other donors/clients on all contractual, financial and operational matters related to the projects;
  • providing support to and supervision of project personnel;
  • ensuring coordination with partner organizations; and
  • managing the relationships with stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • bilingualism in French and English is essential;
  • at least 10 years of experience in managing large projects and administering budgets;
  • experience in managing local teams of experts and staff;
  • experience working with senior level officials in a developing country reform context;
  • experience with CIDA’s RBM approach, progress and financial reporting requirements, and contracting requirements;
  • as required by CIDA, Canadian citizen or Canadian landed immigrant.

Additional assets would include:

  • recent experience as a project manager on an international project;
  • experience working in West Africa.
