Ashok Ghosh, M.Sc., M.B.A., C.I.A., C.I.S.A. - Project Director & Audit Expert

Mr. Ghosh, a well-known expert in the field of capacity building of public sector audit institutions with more than 20 years of professional experience, joined the Cowater Accountability Group in May 2007. He has provided technical assistance services to governments in countries in the Asia-Pacific and Africa regions in financial/regularity audits, value-for-money (VFM) audits, Information Systems audits, internal audit, and fraud investigations. He is also an expert audit trainer having designed, developed and delivered high-quality audit training courses to public sector auditors from various countries.  He is an auditing specialist in IT environments including accessing of data from clients' computer systems, analyzing downloaded financial data using CAATs software, IDEA and ACL, auditing IT systems security and integrity controls, and risk management.  In 2008 Mr. Ghosh  completed a long-term assignment as an international audit expert on a World Bank-funded project with the Government of Uganda, where he provided technical assistance to the Office of the Auditor General.  He is presently working on both a CIDA-funded project in Bangladesh, and a JICA-supported initiative in Uganda.  Highly skilled at applying change management techniques in developing country environments, he has helped bring about significant transformations in audit processes by providing intensive training to audit staff, providing guidance in ongoing field audit work, and through the development of manuals in such areas as risk assessment, review of controls, fraud risk assessment, and the use of statistical sampling techniques.
