Water, Sanitation and Environment                                             

Cowater's Water, Sanitation and Environment (WSE) group works with various stakeholders to improve living conditions in urban, peri-urban and rural settings in developing countries around the world.  Our core areas of expertise are: Water Supply; Sanitation & Hygiene; Water Resources Management; Environmental Management; and Water Sector Governance and Policy Development.

We have implemented over 100 projects in more than 30 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as some assignments in Eastern Europe and the Middle East.  These often include multi-year, multi-million dollar contracts. Types of assignments have included:

  • Sector policy development and strategic investment plans;
  • Institutional assessments and capacity building;
  • Water sector governance;
  • Project planning, design and implementation;
  • Engineering design and construction management;
  • Integrated water, sanitation & health/hygiene education;
  • Financial planning and management;
  • Operation and maintenance, including supply chain management;
  • Facilitating community-based infrastructure management; and
  • Monitoring & Evaluation, and Management Information Systems.
