Sub-Saharan Africa - Mali
The “Continuing Education for Teachers and Assessment of Learning in Mali (FORMÉ)” project is a nine-year, CAD 17M initiative (2012-2020) undertaken with the financial support of the Government of Canada provided through Global Affairs Canada (GAC). The initiative supports the Ministry of National Education by improving education for teachers as well as putting in place a means of measuring and assessing learning. These technical assistance activities focus on teaching, examinations, educational resources and teacher training departments for the staff of over 12,000 schools. Within this context, Cowater provides crucial assistance with respect to establishing or upgrading systems and procedures as well as operational assistance and capacity building for staff of central or decentralized entities. To further support the government of Mali in its efforts to improve the system’s governance, the project implements mechanisms for dialogue and appropriate networks for communication between the decentralized education departments and local authorities.
